Murder Mystery Weekends, Dinners & Events - About us
I'm Mark Hayden, I'm a professional actor and I run Murder Mystery Events Limited who operate under the names MurderMysteryEvents.com and MurderMysteryShop.com.
I started the murder mystery company after working for a number of other companies. I found it frustrating as standards can vary so much, so I decided to set up my own company offering the best murder mystery dinners, weekends and teambuilding entertainment money can buy!
I realised that most people booking a murder mystery weekend, dinner or event don't want to be the next Inspector Morse, they want to laugh, have fun and enjoy the interaction between themselves and professional comedy actors, but still have a real mystery to solve who dunnit? The Carry on Agatha Christie style I've developed has turned out to be very effective in creating events which are teambuilding fun!
Being an actor myself I only employ professional performers who have either auditioned, worked with me directly or are personally recommended, most of the actors have appeared on TV or film or played London's West End. All the scripts are either written by me or a professional writer and are professionally directed, and full event management is included at all events this means the murder mysteries are produced to a high standard.
Since setting up the company in millennium year it's really taken off with public shared events throughout the year in London's West End, murder mystery weekends up and down the country and many private parties and corporate teambuilding projects throughout the year for everything from product launches and team building for corporate clients to Birthday parties and Hen Nights. The busiest time of year is Christmas as a Murder Mystery proves the ideal office party solution!
My teams of actors cover the entire UK and can perform at any venue be it Manor House, Castle or your own front room! We also offer a free venue finding service and have a host of superb hotels and manor houses we use regularly. They offer fine dining and great atmosphere for murder mystery weekends, dinner parties and events.
I have worked on many projects as director, writer, performer, creative consultant and producer. My potted history is: I trained at Webber Douglas Drama School and on graduating have performed in many theatres in repertory seasons, Shakespeare and of course murder mysteries. The most famous play I've been in is the West End production of Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap playing Christopher Wren. I am also the MC for the cult Singalonga Sound Of Music which is still touring along with the other shows on which I worked as creative consultant and MC; Singalonga Joseph, Singalonga Wizard of Oz, Singalonga Annie, Singalonga Rocky Horror and the new shows Singalonga Hairspray and Singalonga Grease. I've done the odd day of filming too for both the big and small screen.
Interesting things that have transpired through my acting career and running a company which specialises in interactive comic murder mysteries have been being interviewed by Phillip and Fern on the sofa for This Morning talking about the techniques Agatha Christie used as a writer- a great experience, and I had the chance to meet members of the cast of ITV's Poirot. Strangely the next week for Singalonga Rocky Horror I appeared suspenders, fish nets and all on Channel 4's Richard & Judy doing the time warp with some super fans!
I've appeared on many local magazine programmes and in Radio interviews promoting either Singalonga or Murdemysteryevents.com and always thoroughly enjoy the experience. So much so that for a period I hosted drive time on Brooklands FM community radio station in Surrey, which I was very proud to be part of.
I've been involved in murder mystery events for over 13 years. The company performs between 160 to 200 events per year across the UK and is probably the largest operator in this field.
